Coach Giovanni Viana brings extensive soccer knowledge at all levels — from youth to professional — to ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø. He has spent the last 11 years as a classic-level coach at North Carolina F.C. where he coached both men’s and women’s teams, from pre-academy to U18. For the past 4 years, Coach Viana also served as the head coach of both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Seaforth High School. During his four-year tenure at Seaforth, Coach Viana led the women’s team to a state title in 2024 and to three consecutive undefeated conference championships.

His coaching career began nearly 30 years ago in his birth country of Brazil, where he was an assistant coach with Canto do Rio Futebol Clube and Serrano Futebol Clube in the Rio de Janeiro State League — both clubs for which he previously played professionally. His international coaching experience also includes a coaching internship with Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, the FIFA World Club Champion and nine-time Brazilian national champion.

Prior to moving to North Carolina 11 years ago, Coach Viana served as the women’s head coach at Newbury College (MA), where he led the Nighthawks to consecutive playoff appearances. Before Newbury, he served as an assistant coach at Lasell College (MA) and as the men’s club coach at the University of Miami (FL).

In addition to his extensive coaching experience, Coach Viana holds several professional coaching licenses and diplomas, including USSF D license, a Brazilian Coaches’ Association diploma, and the United Soccer Coaches Level II Goalkeeping diploma. Coach Viana’s proudest achievement was in helping his daughter develop as a player to reach the U17 Brazilian National Team.
