Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
One can explain Six Sigma fundamentals, philosophies and principles to others if he is a certified Black Belt for Six Sigma. To achieve this professional 'status', he would need to take the Six Sigma Black Belt Certification which would equip him with the expertise required to impart knowledge to others.
Who qualifies for a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification?
- Anyone who understands team leadership and demonstrates team leadership in his daily job profile. Team Managers or Team Leaders or any employee at a supervisory level who has employees reporting to him can get a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.
- The Six Sigma Black Belt certified candidates must be in a position to assign team members jobs and responsibilities. This is extremely critical during six sigma process improvement plans as the process improvement activity needs to be a team activity and the team needs to actively participate in this to ensure that the Six Sigma process improvement project meets its objectives.
- The Black Belt employees must need to have a thorough understanding of the DMAIC model which will allow them to design and implement Six Sigma plans for the company to manage its processes efficiently.
- The Black belt employees must also know lean concepts which are extremely critical for Six Sigma plans to deliver results which would make the process reliant on speed and quality. Since Lean concepts are based on the fact that processes can deliver quality results in a speedy way, a Black Belt employee truly gets a chance to demonstrate his abilities in improving the processes for the benefit of the company.
- Last but not the least, a Black Belt employee must also ensure that he could pick out non-value-add steps from a process. More often than not, process lag times which cause delay in process execution are due to the steps which do not add value at all to the process in an overall perspective. Black Belt employees should be able to segregate these non-value steps from the process and ensure that the process generates efficient and effective results.
